Gorgeous AND baby-safe Jul 27, 2008

This is a great dish for baby...at 15 months she wants to feed herself, but we got tired of her tossing the dishes across the room when we least expected it. (We didn't want to give her plastic dishes since no one knows if they are really harmful or not, and anyway they are petroleum products.) The only drawback is that you have to wash and dry it immediately after use. But I have to wipe off her bib and tray anyway, so whatever. Hubby thinks it's gorgeous and wants me to buy more for US to use!

I purchased two of these to use for rice, one dish meals, etc. since I generally prefer eating out of bowls rather than plates. These are gorgeous, and everyday meals very special. As someone who is very clumsy I like the idea of having solid, long-lasting bamboo pieces instead of the traditional ceramic or glassware.
As long as you keep them well-conditioned, I think these can last a lifetime of use. Just be aware of the size. These are about the size of standard cereal bowls, but they are fairly shallow, 2-3 inches in depth, so not something that would be well suited for cereal generally. Likewise if you're like me, these won't do for salad either, unless it's a small side salad with a meal. These would be great for snacks, fruit, rice, oatmeal, etc. And for the price and quality of the item, it works great for my purposes.

I bought this bowl to use as a salad serving bowl for two people and I just love it. Perfect size for salad or rice for two. I get many compliments on it. Even though it must be hand washed and dried, makes a great addition to any table service.
